How do I activate my plan after purchase?

To activate your Lightroom subscription, launch the Lightroom app on your device and sign in with the Adobe ID used to purchase the subscription. For a new purchase, you may need to go to creative.adobe.com/redeem to enter a redemption code, while for a mobile subscription, you can use the "Restore your purchase" option within the app's settings to link your in-app purchase to your account.

Will I get the latest version automatically?

Yes, you can get the latest version of Lightroom automatically by enabling auto-updates within the Adobe Creative Cloud desktop app. To do this, open the Creative Cloud app, go to the "Apps" section, and turn on the auto-update toggle for Lightroom or set all your Adobe applications to update automatically. If auto-updates are not enabled, new versions will be available in the Creative Cloud app's "Updates" section or under the "Check for updates" option for Lightroom itself.

Can I use Lightroom offline too?

Yes, you can use Lightroom (both Classic and the cloud-based version) offline by leveraging local storage and smart previews. In Lightroom Classic, smart previews are low-resolution DNG files that allow you to edit images even when the original files on your external drive are disconnected. In the cloud-based Lightroom, you can store albums or collections locally on your device. In either case, the changes you make offline will sync back to the main library and original files once you reconnect to the internet.

How does Lightroom differ from Lightroom Classic?

Lightroom is the cloud-based photo service that works across desktop, mobile, and web. Lightroom Classic is the desktop-focused digital photography product.

What happens to my photos if I exceed my allotment of cloud storage?

If you run out of storage, your new photos will be saved only on the devices they came from. They’ll no longer be backed up to the cloud or synced across your devices, and they won’t be automatically tagged for easy keyword search within Lightroom. The photos you have already backed up to the cloud will still be accessible on all your devices. If you need more storage, you can upgrade a 20GB plan to 1TB or boost your total storage to 2TB, 5TB, or 10TB, starting at US$11.99/mo per terabyte. To purchase more storage, call 800-585-0774.
