So excited to be able to use my 50 year old legacy lenses on this full frame camera. Saved tons of money by not having to purchase lenses.

Well made, handles easily

I am still getting used to the mirrorless camera idea. And it still feels small to me. That said, it is why I bought it. I shoot a lot from a mountain bike and need to travel light. When I want a full feel camera I use the add on vertical position two battery holder. With it the camera feels like a solid pro camera. I am a retired pro shooter and have traveled all over the world carrying heavy 4x5 and RB67 equipment. This is nothing like that.... Read More  Hide

Great Camera

April 14, 2015
No doubt this is a great full frame camera in a small package! I have also the a6000 which to be honest has more shoot time on it than the a7ii. Something i just love about the super compact 6000 but this review is about the a7ii so i will leave only my thoughts on this model. I have shot canon and nikon and still have a d810 and love it, but carrying all the weight on my treks are wearing on me and my back and shoulders. The a7ii is fantastic with just a couple of gripes i have with it. One being the control dial on the back used for shutter speed adjustment is just too recessed and i wish it was metal and knurled like the exposure comp dial which feels great! The only other thing i wish sony would do is let us program a button to toggle viewfinder and lcd panel. The recent firmware update from sony did finally give an option to set either the viewfinder or lcd or auto which is nice as it now turns the lcd off completely when i have it set to viewfinder only which helps to conserve battery but still needs a button to toggle back and fourth cause when you have it set to viewfinder only and want to review a shot or change a setting in the menu you will have to look through the viewfinder to see the settings unless you look through the menu through the viewfinder and find the setting to turn the lcd back on again which is time consuming as well as frustrating. The reason i loved nikon is for the fantastic dynamic range and most of that comes from using sony sensors which i love. The kit lens that came with the a7ii was surprising me as it was really nice until just two days ago it out of the blue just started making clicking noises when the camera woke from sleep and would not autofocus or let me change f-stop and the lens was only a month old and i did try it on the a6000 body and it did the same thing so i know it was the lens and is now on its way to sony service center which i am a little disappointed from it being still relatively new but hopefully it will come back quick and be right? I am really looking forward to seeing the a7rii version as well as what sony does with the a6000 successor.... Read More  Hide
