Amazing close-ups

I purchased this lens about a month ago and I have been very impressed with the clarity and bokeh when shooting close-ups. Very easy to lock focus compared to other macro lenses and is sharp from the center to the edges of the focal plane. Although it also functions as a very sharp portrait lens, the bokeh when capturing portraits is not nearly as smooth as it is for close-ups. The further you get from your subject the more "swirly" the out of focus area gets. Nevertheless, it functions amazingly for its intended purpose as a macro lens.
