Very sharp, very heavy

I've been getting pixel sharp and clean photos with this lens even in difficult lighting. Autofocus is fast and quiet. I don't have any battery drain issues with stabilization. The front glass cleans with little effort and so far I haven't seen any dust inside. The significant downside is that this is a HEAVY lens. It's about at the limit of what you can carry in one hand and it needs two hands for shooting. There's a customizable "focus hold" button between the turning rings that can't be relied on. You can hold it down accidentally in portrait mode but then can't reach it in landscape mode. It's probably best to set the camera to automatically switch to MF when the focus ring is turned.... xlnt low light abilities if stationary

Nice full daytime clips without crazy distortions. The bokeh is awesome throughout the zoom range. Night shots were made in heaven when manually focused in a stationary setting.

I have owned the lens for about 1-1/2 months. I have used it for a high-density Christmas in July Party. (5) Paid and (2) Volunteer Events. Because the Sony A7IV has more than enough latitude, the 2.8 f-Stop was not of concern.

Good but limited Magnification

I wanted the Sony 24-70mm f/2.8 lens for a rather specific purpose: to take pictures indoors without flash. Yes this lens takes good pictures indoors and maybe good for things like weddings when you are close to people. However, now I take many different type of pictures and I find the a 24-70mm lens may not be the best lens to have with it’s limits. Today’s cameras allow for high IOS, for more latitude in magnification, I have used a Sony 24-240mm and gotten a acceptable indoors. So I am sorry, but a 24-70mm lens may not be for me....
