The optical performance of this lens is very good. I've used two copies, one a rental and the other purchased. Lens hood attachment not as robust as the Canon. Owned it for 14 months and it needs repair the front lens barrel is loose when the lens is extended, not a terrible amoumt of use over its life should not have loosend other than that i really like it

Good compromise of optical quality and portability. Lens failed after 8 months of light to moderate use. The autofocus and manual focus stopped working, in addition to loosing the ability to select the aperture when in aperture control.
