I'm so glad I bought these headphones they are the best headphones I ever had. I used to own a pair of Sony WH 1000 XM3 that I gave to my daughter they were still in really good shape she loved them. The Noise-Canceling on the XM5 is unmatched. I really like the new design from the XM3 but wish they still had near-field communication. All of the other new functions that these have over the XM3's make up for though. I just had to buy these because I gotta steal own them the price was $279 I had a $20 gift card which made it $259. I purchased the XM5 a month ago. I used it to listen and view my studies. About 45 minutes into the streaming, the power suddenly dropped off. It happened twice. So I returned XM5 in exchanged for a new one. The problem occur again. Sony support guided me to reset the headphones to factory settings. It worked just fine for a few days, then it occurred again. I just don't know. I can live with it because the XM5 audio is supberb. I enjoy it. I don't know if the XM5 has software or hardware problem like power shutting down after about 45 minutes usage.... Pros: Comfortable, Good on ANC, High-quality audio when using wire. Cons: Annoying touch/gesture functions, cannot use the microphone when using wire.
